Underground
A major portion of the
work required for the successful installation of your new landscape is never
seen as it is located underground. The underground work is the foundation
for your new garden.

TRENCHING
At this phase of the project, it is a good practice to re-examine the clients
needs for construction and possible future construction. It is relatively
inexpensive to add extra conduits (for electrical, cable or network cable)
or install additional pipes for plumbing (irrigation expansion, domestic water,
sewer or gas) while the trenches are open.
Trenches are carefully
layed out so that all underground utilities necessary for each job can be
installed in common trenches when possible. Irrigation sprinklers must be
placed a measured distance from each other to ensure head to head coverage.
Electrical and gas line trenches must have sand placed as a bedding &
cover and a minimum amount of earth placed over the pipes, usually between
18" and 30". Sewer lines and storm drainage pipes must have continuous
fall and require special treatment for proper grading and compaction of the
bottom of the trench to prevent settlement and ensure proper drainage. Special
care must be taken during the backfill process to prevent settling.
IRRIGATION
We utilize the latest technologies in irrigation designed to save water and
optimally manage your landscape watering. From pressure compensating sprinkler
heads and rain sensors to ET technology (Evapotranspiration (ET) is the combined
process of plant transpiration and soil evaporation), we install water efficient
irrigation systems designed to provide the minimum amount of water required
to sustain healthy, vigorous plant growth.
DRAINAGE
Excess water is potentially the most damaging element in the landscape. Drainage
systems are designed to effectively manage sub-surface groundwater and surface
run-off. Typically, water is channeled into pipes and deposited into a city
or county storm sewer system. Less frequently, cities may allow storm water
to be discharged into the sanitary sewer system. Some sites are situated lower
than the discharge site and must make use of sumps, pumps and check valves.
We design drainage systems
that are most appropriate to your site conditions.
UTILITIES
GAS:
Natural gas has a variety of uses in the landscape: swimming pool and spa
heaters, patio heaters, BBQ's, firepits & outdoor fireplaces.
ELECTRIC: Electrical circuits are built into the landscape to provide
power for pool & spa equipment, swimming pool cabana buildings, outdoor
lighting, convenience outlets, automatic gates, BBQ's, bars, etc...
WATER: Domestic water for home use, pool cabana buildings, BBQ and
bar sinks, drinking fountains, etc...
PHONE/CABLE/DSL: Separate conduits are installed for new phone lines,
cable lines, network cables, etc...
SEWER: Sanitary sewer pipes are added for pool cabana buildings, BBQ
and bar sinks.
LIGHTING: Wiring for line voltage lighting is run in conduit while
low voltage landscape lighting uses direct burial cable.
LANDSCAPE LIGHTING
There are many reasons to incorporate lighting in to your garden design. Besides
providing safety and security, a well designed lighting system will effectively
illuminate your garden without being glaring and can provide a garden view
that becomes an extension of your home. We utilize the latest technologies
in low voltage landscape lighting. Our designs focus on illumination rather
than fixture selection. Often, we'll provide demonstration lighting prior
to final selection of fixtures. The following links can give you an idea of
the types of lighting options that are available.
